The Blue Values Journey is an international project that uses film, social media and in-person community encounters to make human cultural connections to the ocean more visible and accessible to a global audience. The goals of the project are to (1) deepen global knowledge of human cultural valuations of the ocean (2) share new stories of human-ocean relations and philosophies and (3) support coastal communities and indigenous peoples in the protection of their cultural heritage and (4) produce new knowledge on coastal heritage for more inclusive ocean management practices. Having been implemented in Namibia, TotalEnergies Namibia partnered with the University of Namibia and with leading anthropologists and audio-visual professionals to refine our understanding of the country’s coastal heritage.
